Christmas 2016

On Sunday 18 December, Hopefield Country House presents a concert for the Festive Season. Hopefield hosts Kobus Buys & Gerhard Maritz will perform a programme of beloved Christmas melodies and Classical Evergreens.

Presented for the eleventh time this year, Christmas at Hopefield Country House has grown in popularity and promises an afternoon of beautiful music in a relaxed country atmosphere. Festive favourites will be coupled with light classical music to ensure an unforgettable experience.

As has become customary Kobus & Gerhard is joined by a fellow local musician to add an additional dimension to the afternoons’ proceedings. Usually an NMMU student or fellow singer is asked to join.

This year we have discovered a very young local musician who is quietly working her way to become one of the bright stars of classical music in Port Elizabeth. 13 year old Jamie Miller (French Horn) started her music education as one of Gerhard’s music students at Sundays River Primary some years ago. Currently a 7th grader at Collegiate Junior School and student of Prof Erik Albertyn at NMMU we are proud to present Jamie at this year’s Christmas Concert – in what will be her professional debut!  This year she was a finalist in the SASMT Music Competition in Port Elizabeth and achieved double gold in Woodridge’s “Knock on Wood” Music Festival.

We are looking forward to sharing the stage with her – and her remarkable talent with our audience.

As usual refreshments will be served in the garden after the concert and a cash bar will be available.
